Chakras Blocked?

10996378_1106656089361073_5414727044507092550_nOur chakra system is a rich and colorful system that corresponds to energies in our lives and areas of our body. When certain chakras are blocked, so are certain energies in our lives and parts of our bodies. Tantric work helps to open these chakras and bring the breath and movement of sensual energy to clean out and restore their natural goodness. Pleasure has the power to heal and by generating this cosmic kundalini pleasure energy and spreading it via touch and breath and sound thru out the whole body and therefore into the chakras we can create magic, healing and aliveness. Pure and simple.

The FIRST CHAKRA:: Also known as the root chakra, or the area between the anus and the genitalia, functions as our anchor in the world and our connection to survival. It is also our sexual chakra where we can also experience sexual energy. If we have problems relating to this chakra our life force can be reduced to a dull murmur. Our relationship to work becomes a survival matter rather than a love affair of enjoyment. We tend to be more prone to diseases of the sexual organs. We also may feel we never have enough so we push ourselves to constantly create More. This constant needing for more is our society’s ill at the moment, particularly in the USA, where it seems we are a culture of bigger is better, more is success…..Healing the root chakra assists us in being more at ease in our bodies, on our planet and in the safety of a benevolent universe.

The SECOND CHAKRA: which is the belly center is a place of exsquisite creative power. But when contracted we may loose our sense of boundaries and our sense of what is ours and what is the others. We may say yes when we mean no or find ourselves in situations that we feel we are powerless to change. Our health can often suffer as we become poor self-nurturers and become constipated both literally and emotionally. When this chakra is aligned and healthy we are in good relation to life rhythms and we complete our creative projects.

The THIRD CHAKRA; the solar center the area of the belly button, is our center of self-esteem. When this area is blocked we may have low self worth and allow others to take advantage of us. We can become victims and not want to take responsibility for changing situations we got ourselves into. When this area is healthy we are empowered to do our best and show up for our lives with responsibility. And responsibility is merely our ability to respond.

The FOURTH CHAKRA is our heart chakra. Pretty easy to understand what happens when this one is blocked. We are in pain, and un-trusting and we doubt everyone and everything sometimes letting our head rule our choices rather than listening to the heart. We may long for love but the fear of getting hurt keeps us closed and untrusting. When our heart chakra is open and healthy we are embracing and accepting of people and situations with trust and ease. We look to create peace in our lives and have love to offer and receive.

The FIFTH CHAKRA, the throat center is our expression center. When this is blocked we find it hard to express ourselves and may be stuck in subordinate roles and we never really communicating our truth. When this area is healthy and in tune we are able to express our wants and needs and also give others permission to do the same.

The SIXTH CHAKRA: the third eye is a place of intuitive insight. When it is blocked we may feel confused or lost. So we tend to follow others and look for our authority outside of ourselves. We also may be resentful of being so co-dependent so we judge others. When the sixth chakra is healthy we see the higher picture and stay on track. It’s the visionary sense we all have. And the place where one sees the highest potential of both himself and others.

The SEVENTH CHAKRA: is our connection to spirit, also known as the crown chakra. When this is blocked we don’t really trust that we have the answers within us and our relationship to the divine is unclear. We are often apprehensive and dissappointed by life as we are not sure there really is a benevolent universe. When this chakra is healthy we are in touch with higher intelligience, light and love and feel connected to our higher power. We are infused with divine energy and wisdom.

The chakras when cleaned and balanced can be a tremendous source of cosmic energy, healing and beauty. There are many ways to chakra cleanse. Using Tantric breath, sound and movement is one way and should be practiced with care and consciousness. Yoga is another great way, hands on healings, accupuncture and many other healing forms.

May you walk in goodness and healing and find all you are sincerely searching for.

The Beauty of The Daily Practice: 7 Tips To Ignite Your Practice

10604575_10152820965557069_8282840049436628307_oThe beauty of a daily tantric practice is you set the tone of your entire day, simply by vibrating from pleasure. Not necessarily from sexual pleasure, although that may be part of your practice, but from the pleasure of the heart, soul and senses. When you rise in the morning and the first thing you do is pray/meditate/commune with the sacredness of life by chanting, yoga, singing, dancing, praying, sitting silently, reading inspirational texts or simply sitting with the birds and the breeze, you imprint something onto your day. You welcome in the miraculous. You draw to you what you need for the rest of the day, people smile at you for no reason, things seem to work out, you notice beauty more around you…Tantric energy is pure life force, magic, miracles, and it begins with saying thank you, it begins with you, putting the Essence of Life before your personal agenda……there is a fragrance inherent in this that seduces life effortlessly, that makes the whole world shine even brighter. Shine your inner diamond and life will shine back at you. I promise.

Not sure how to begin a practice? Not sure you even believe in “prayer” or a “God”?…It’s really okay. Because this practice is about you and what helps you align with the day, it’s not about ideology or religion…it’s truly about you finding the way into alignment with your deepest soul.

Tip #1-Establish a Sacred Place for your Practice that you continuously return to. This place can be anywhere in your home or yard…but it should be free of electrical devices, mess, or other people’s stuff. You can have the traditional altar with sacred pictures, flowers, items, and candles, OR you can just have a nice spot in your favorite chair or near the window with your favorite view. Wherever it is, it should inspire a sense of beauty and ease. It can also be in the back yard …but try and create a spot where you feel private, clean and peaceful.

-Tip #2::Do It Right Away. Don’t Make Coffee or Check Email First. Seriously. Your mind when you awake is fresh. You want to imprint it with the freshest most aligned energy you can, so that your practice is capable of doing the magic it is possible of doing. You set a tone when you wake up and speak to Life. It says you are prioritizing the things that really matter to you and Life responds based on that proclamation.

-Tip #3:: Do a Practice.  A mantra, an affirmation, a prayer, a tantric practice you picked up from a new workshop…something that you do regularly at least for a week. Give it some time and discipline to work. We need to create a field of resonance, a field of meditative energy. An actual practice, like mediation or mantra helps create that field to activate your sub-conscious. And bring you into more harmony with your soul. Try to do this for at least 10 minutes. Longer is always better.

-Tip #4:: Do a Devotion:: After the practice portion let yourself also get creative. Sing, dance, pray out loud, journal, do something that really calls from your heart in a way that you creatively wish to speak to life. Our own creativity, which stems from no-mind is very powerful. I like to speak out loud, and really voice what I usually see transpiring in my meditation. I speak to Life just like a friend and I keep a journal to get the answers or reflections I recieve. I also like to dance, sing, and sometimes I just sway and do mantra, but I follow my creative inspiration and let that wisdom guide me for as long as I have time for. Often I discover great creative ideas, and insight from this portion of the practice.

-Tip #5:: Close with Intention. Don’t just get up when the time is over as if getting up from the sofa. Do something to seal your practice. To make an offering to the energy you created so that it stays with you the rest of the day. I like to namaste and bow my head like in traditional yoga, you can also imagine a white light encircling all around you keeping that good energy with you or you can come up with your own way. Amen can be a nice traditional way or you can bow your head to the floor…Find what works for you. But seal the deal!

-Tip #6:: Silence is Golden. Keep it silent. Meaning no radio or tv on.. Maybe some chant music is okay or sacred music but I personally think silence is best so you can really tune in to what is happening within you. So often music and media create habitual responses in us and throw us off as to what we are actually feeling. Wait till after your practice to put on your inspiring get ready for the day music…Let the birds carry you thru the practice part….If you can. If you live in a major city like I have in the past sometimes I have had to play some kirtan music to meditate as the garbage trucks were just too loud!

-Tip #7:: Keep it Real. Authenticity is what it’s about. Don’t do your practice because you “should” or because you want something out of it. It’s okay if you are desiring to create better things in your life, but also remain humble….Just show up because the universe is awesome and you love to spend some time alone with it….Do your practice from your heart, and offer yourself to it… I promise your days will look a whole lot different. You might even notice more synchronicity and sense of ease happening alot more. I am not saying you will have no more challenges in life, but the rate of suffering and struggle will get less….I often notice distinct differences in my life on the days I have meditated and practiced than on the days I haven’t. See for yourself.

Keep me posted on how things go I would love to hear from you….I truly hope this post has inspired you to start a daily practice or pick up the one you maybe let linger to long…

Blessings!

Embodiment Is Everything

10891977_10152900149483190_6770965350830585997_nToday I called up another Tantra Teacher, a man who came highly recommended for his knowledge and dedication to the true path. I was interested in his training, as I am always searching for the next training, the new information that expands my work even more. I have never met this man before, but I trusted his pictures and websites and videos I saw. I liked him. He seemed for real. And he was. He is.

I realize I haven’t written in awhile because I was taking space from my practice. From this whole “tantra thing” as an acquaintance recently asked if I was “still doing?”. I have been spending my time meditating and relaxing and looking inwards. With less of a fixation to move outwards or hold space for anybody and gathering my forces for the next incarnation of life. So I called this tantra teacher, thinking, well why don’t I just take a class to get myself going again and re-connected?. Find your inspiration again.

Let me explain. I always feel connected to Tantra. Tantra is what is. Right now. It is what is happening at all times. I guess I was feeling a bit discouraged, by the level of maturity that is in our society around sexuality and sensuality. I was tired of hiding, not knowing how or who to tell what my passions are, what I offer to people as a healing, truly who I am. There is alot of stigma around this work, and alot of charlatans who claim to do this work. I just was tired of the whole scene and wanting to connect deeper to myself before I went back into it. And anyway, did people really want the real tantra? Which requires a certain amount of self inquiry and facing your demons. And less to do with massive orgasms or being sexy.  Could I really offer quality and still be in business.

All I can say is it is so refreshing to talk to a real tantra person. Someone who is walking the path and is grounded in truly helping people. This teacher is. And he reminded me of all the amazingness in this work, and the amazing people who can be drawn to this work. I did. I felt re-inspired, re-aligned, re-tantrified…

So get ready. Because my new plan is to blog consistently twice a week, not to just build this blog or because I should, but because I need to express everything I am learning and growing with. I have 10,000 ideas of new things to do with my practice, new ways to serve people, new ways to create sensual arts. And when inspiration comes…you gotta ride that wave thru all your doubt, resistance or confusion…Just keep carving the path. Carving the path…Carving the path…From your own two hands and your own full heart.

So stay tuned….This girl is on fire…

I had the pleasure of studying with Devi Ward, a tantra educator who shares the lineage of Tibetan 5 element Tantra. She was doing alot of great work, integrating the 5 elements with the 5 senses, and working with powerful meditations using chakras, elements, colors and sounds. Each meditation deals with a different element to super charge your system, clean out your energy field and get you more connected to your sensual/sexual energy for greater health, and energy.

This is what I love about Tantra is the creativity of each way of sharing these arts. I love the use of color, sound and chakras to open up the body. Its like learning magic keys, which I find very exciting….

Just to give you a taste::

THE SACRED 5 ELEMENTS TANTRA SENSUAL EXPERIENCE:

Earth–Taste-Rich succulent flavors and sweet treats, such as, wine and chocolate, cut and peeled fruits, cheese, etc.

Water-Touch–Soft fabrics, pillows, silky lingerie, massage oils (organic high quality), feathers, textured fabrics to rub on your bodies.

Fire— Sight– Candles, low-dim sensuous lighting. clean and tidy environment. Beauty and ambiance.

Air-Smell — oil diffusers, incense, scented,  scented oils.

Space — bells, chimes, sounding bowls, nature sounds, the sound of the voice.

By adding these elements to your room or temple, you can begin to bring in the qualities of each element.  For earth you can have not only succulent treats, but a potted plant. For Fire you can have not only candles but some art work as well. For Air, you can do fresh air thru a humidifier, as well as essential oils and incense. For Space of course, music and also a sound machine to block out any noise from neighbors or strange house creaks as well get creative with your own voice quality…..For water….well, you can always get a nice water fountain. As well as have all the nice feelings of touch. Get creative!

A New Book I Love:: Tantric Orgasm for Women by Diana Richardson

10599376_10152808101891454_2601466880874944407_nAs always, I am reading, reading, reading and constantly learning more about Tantra, sexual healing and all things men and women. A few years ago I was traveling in Greece when I met this fascinating, electric woman who carried herself with such a presence I admired her from afar for awhile. Then thru the course of the week (we were in a big group of people staying at the same lodge) I began to have more opportunity to speak with her and she shared that she was a Tantra teacher! Yay,,,,plus one for my intuitive feeling and knowing. I immediately wanted to know more and she shared with me a few titles of her books but that her book for women wasn’t out yet.

Well fast forward a few years and its out now, and I am reading it. I am so blown away with how much she writes from her heart and with the spirit of meditation in sex. The other book she and her partner , Michael Richardson,,wrote together is Tantric Sex for Men:: Making Love a Meditation. Also excellent but I have only flipped thru as I am still reading the book for women. Stay tuned.

Just to give you a taste….

She writes ” When a woman knows it is possible to use her sexual energy rightfully, allowing it to circulate throughout the body orgasmically, her sense of self changes and she WANTS to make love. Sex becomes less to do with the other or with getting something and becomes more a way of valuing and loving oneself, of being with oneself. With insight into her body mechanisms she is able to direct her sexual energy and so be more in command of her life. The process of the body getting older and perhaps less attractive becomes of no real concern, in the sense that she knows how to attract the male principle when a man is in her presence, how to draw and drink from him, through understanding the deeper layers of sexual energy. It has nothing to with how she looks or how old she is. She bypasses the superficiality of sex and steps directly in to the female element, which is passive, relaxed, receptive, sweet, serene, open. Such an ambiance in itself stimulates man to respond to woman in a way quite different from how he usually responds.

So true. I couldn’t agree more. The more often I nourish myself, and spend time looking inward and getting to know my soul, and clearing my belief system,  the more often I find men noticing me. So many time you leave the house without make up in gym clothes etc, but you are alive and feeling that feminine juice and suddenly you have that guy bumbling all over himself to open your doors or talk to you. The times I spend all this effort to dress up, look a certain way etc but have not paid attention to my insides, to my heart and soul….I can feel it. There is less spark. Men don’t pay attention as much. Now when I have done my tantric practice, things go thru the roof! Whether dressed up or not:)

” The fragrance of a woman settled in her essence exerts an attractive force on  man that alters the whole nature of the sexual act–it is a dimensional shift” Diana Richardson

So here is to really making love a meditation and claiming the sacred energy of sex and womanhood….

Ecstasy IS Necessary:: Clips from Barbra Carrellas New Book

8005_287904214692503_1946658236_nWhat a wonderful world it is when you come to a house of a friend and she ends up having fabulous books that you had on your book list. I am back on the horse so to speak with this blog….Thanks to ALL who are reading it and my apologies as I drop off the face of the earth at times. I simply need to unplug and dive into deep inner processes within myself and beyond myself to balance my system…

But now I am “above” ground and ready to contribute sensual, tantric, healing posts that inspire, enliven, educate, and hopefully add some spice and energy to your worlds. And as always I hope to bring you into a deeper inquiry investigating the nature of “reality” and what it is that TRULY feeds your soul. And how sensuality and sex are so profoundly interwoven into all of this, regardless if your having it or not.

I’m reading Ecstasy is Necessary by Barbra Carrellas and she invites us (the readers) to get in touch with our Authentic Sexual Self. So that we can really discover how we operate in terms of relationship, sexual style, and erotic appetite. Most of what we have learned is pretty cookie cutter as if sex was a one size fits all experience. We are also so bombarded by guilt and shame in this country around anything related to pleasure, and I don’t just mean sexual pleasure, I mean any kind of sensual pleasure-relaxing, getting a massage, enjoying a good meal, taking a walk for no reason. Especially here in NYC where so many of us are in work overdrive, to stay competitive, on our edge and keeping up. I was astounded by the answers she received when she began to ask people “Why do you do sex?””What does it give you?” “Whats the delight?” and “Whats the big pay off?” She says “the truth is we don’t all do sex for the same reasons”.

Here are the some of the answers she came up with:: (There were many more but I chose the ones that really stood out for me)

-To Connect /communicate with another person.

-To turn my brain off.

-To lighten up.

-To feel Wanted and Needed.

-To explore different sides of my personality.

-To Open My Heart

-To experience Altered States

-It Makes Me Feel Grounded

-Its the most authentic time I have with myself

-It’s one of the only ways I enjoy being present in my body.

Doesn’t this open up so much more your view of the human being? So often I feel like subtly we look at sexual appetite as some lecherous, needy experience, so conditioned we are to see men as dogs and women as whores. Of course our view is not so extreme but in the sub-conscious if we are really honest with our judgement I am sure we can find those extreme belief systems inside of us. I credit this mostly to religion and the media. But when we strip away our superficial conscious mind and begin to question what really motivates us to seek sex, its amazing what we might find. Uncovering our authentic needs and desires, helps us to get CLEAR, about what we are really seeking, have more compassion for ourselves and our partners. It also helps us to see that the people we are in partnership with may have a totally different reason why they enjoy sex and by understanding what really makes them tick, we can create more nourishing sexual exchanges.

She writes” The longer I talked to people about the true value sex had in their lives, the more I could see a through line. The majority of people reported that they liked sex because of some form of connection. What differed was what they preferred to be in connection with. Some people wanted to be in connection with another person. Others wanted connection with God/Goddess/All That Is. Some wanted connection with an aspect of themselves, while others wanted a feeling of purpose, or aliveness, or love, or inner peace. I personally subscribe to the theory that all human desire for connection is a desire for connection with the divine, for connection with God/Goddess/Universe/All That Is. Sex and sexual energy allow us a direct physical experience of the divine within ourselves and with others–a direct connection to the center of everything.”

I love her. Thank you Barbra. She speaks to my soul about this path of Sensual Tantric Healing….to embrace this incredible energy of our sexuality as being divine, and NECESSARY for us to heal as whole human beings.

Reclaiming Your Sensual Potential

527721_360980377335883_1641217043_nI am currently taking an online tantra training with Devi Ward, learning some basics of the Tibetan 5 element tantric approach. Part of my “homework” is to do a pleasure ritual for myself, light the candles, play the music, explore the pussy. Not just any ole pussy. But my own pussy. And practice the art of self pleasure that Devi has shared with me, based on breathing, sound, and deeply investigating what it means to open all the parts of my own delicious vagina on my  own through conscious touch. And I have to admit…I am struggling with this. I keep putting my homework off.

Now don’t think I am some prude or something, for sure I am NOT, but for all the ways I can hold space for other women to unfold,  and absolutely know in my gut this work is needed for the healing of our planet on so many levels, (it would take another article to go into), I still have to face my own resistance to pleasure. I still have to face my own habit of putting my own pleasure on the back burner in favor of what I am comfortable with:: Helping others experience, and sharing the education….keeping the focus off myself. And yet, without making the time for myself and my own pleasure what kind of help can I really provide…? (more on that again, in another post).

So I went to Devi’s blog looking for inspiration when I realized how resistant I was to giving myself this time…and found this timeless article by Ms. Ward,  that reminded me why this work is so important….We truly have been  conditioned to think of the word pleasure in a way that is counter to what it really is…..we have built up resistances that lodge in our sub-conscious so tightly we can be hardly aware that its there! Here I am an advocate for sensual healing and health and I still come up against resistance…Its normal or rather I should say it is the norm. We have not been gifted this kind of sensual education or awareness from our society, it simply hasn’t been there even as a language, we wouldn’t of even known how to ask the questions for most of us. Many of the things I learned in school and from my friends and family about sex had nothing to do with the reality of sex once I arrived at being sexual active. I was given tampons in junior high, menstral blood was considered gross and all I knew about sex is that if any of the nasty white stuff that came out of the guys penis got inside me, I would become an after school special movie of the week.  Good girls didn’t like sex and bad girls definitely got alot of attention. To touch yourself or even talk about it was hidden or giggled about. Boys doing it was “gross”. And yet. There were a whole host of experiences I could never explain, that made me KNOW deep down…..there was something way deeper to this whole sex thing, and for sure, I was going to find out.

Fast forward a few years and here I am. Fascinated by sex, humbled by my work, floored by what people share with me about their experiences. I constantly have to tell people this work goes way beyond a desire for sexual gratification and into areas so tender and true to the soul, one day a book (I pray) hopes to emerge that opens our eyes to what sexuality can really offer us as a humanity, when we bring our hearts and education to it. And still, despite the other tantra trainings I have done, the communities of open minded people I have been blessed with, and my own personal exploration in all sorts of sexual worlds both privately and with friends, still. The self pleasure homework gets put on the back burner….This is not to beat myself up, this is truly to say:: I now realize how much this work is needed….

For more from Devi Ward:

“From Chapter 2. of “Shake Your Soul-Song! A Woman’s Guide To Self-Empowerment Through The Art Of Self-Pleasure”

We are born into this world of sensory experience~ sight, sound, taste, touch, and smell.

Each of our 5 senses also relates to the 5 elements ~fire, space, earth, water, and air ~ which make up our relative or “experiential” environment.

As children we delight in our sensual experience.

We want to taste it, touch it, feel it, understand it, know it.”…..
